SP209 and core isolation

Dear all,

We’re assessing our options regarding the known “Kernel isolation” issue that have been causing some trouble to some Window 11 users.

This only impacts SP209 and SP209i.

The most probable solution we’re working on will be a small utility that changes the PID of the SP209 to the standard FTDI PID, making is easily usable with latest FTDI drivers.

If you’d like to share your thoughts about this, please let us know.

I have finally found the time to release this little utility:

https://cdn.ikalogic.com/dist/sp209/sp209-win11.zip

Currently, SP209 devices load the legacy IKALOGIC driver which is not compatible with core-isolation.

The utility needs to open the SP209 one last time using the IKALOGIC driver (on that same machine if you can disable core isolation, or on any other machine that can accept IKALOGIC driver). Then it will change the USB PID to use the new FTDI driver that supports core isolation.

When the utility is done, you simply need to detach and reattach the SP209(i) device and you should be able to use new FTDI drivers and enable core isolation.

Please let me know if this works for you.

:information_source: Please note, this “core isolation” issue is only related to SP209 devices, and does not affect newer SP259 devices
